Now Presenting Red River Gorge Ranch House

The snow is flying here in the Red River Gorge. You can tell that Christmas is on it's way! What better way to celebrate the holidays than by staying in a gorgeous cabin here in the Daniel Boone National Forest?! We also have a new house called Red River Gorge Ranch House #1! It has a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, dishwasher, stove and a refrigerator. It has two private queen bedrooms and another private bedroom equipped with bunk beds. Last minute cancellation!

Good afternoon! We've had a last minute cancellation for our "Deer Track Falls Country Home" for this upcoming weekend (October 23-25). Deer Track Falls can hold up to six guests, it is situated on 5 acres of land, and is only a few minutes drive from the Natural Bridge State Park & Red River Gorge. Check out this link for more information! Deer Track Falls is a brick home that is tastefully designed like a cabin. It offers all the same amenities as a cabin such as a hot tub on the deck, fireplace, outdoor fire pit, etc. Right now is the perfect time to visit the area if you want to see something spectacular!  The foliage is filled with yellows, oranges, and reds and the weather has been perfect. They're calling for it to be close to the 80's this weekend! Grab a few friends and some family and head our way. There is a local festival in Lee County (Beattyville, KY) called the Woolly Worm Festival and it's only a 15 minute drive that you can go and check out while you're here visiting. Happy Sunday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! We sure did. Other than amazing weather, the fall foliage is almost at its "peak" for October. It's a beautiful sight. We also have a new cabin on our rental program as of this past weekend called Mountain Rose Chalet. Its name suits it perfectly! Check out the pictures of the cabin below. Mountain Rose offers a private queen bedroom downstairs and a queen bed in the loft for a max occupancy of 4. It has 1 full bathroom downstairs and a half bath upstairs, TV / satellite, washer/dryer, charcoal grill, and a full size pool table. Mountain Rose is located on Cabin Country Development which is directly behind our office and Shell gas station. That means you're only a couple of miles from Red River Gorge or Natural Bridge. This is the beginning of our journey around the area with a look at some of the unique features of the Gorge and the many cabins located so close to most all of them. If you looked through our live cam you will see a sign that says Natural Bridge straight ahead and the Red River Gorge in the direction to the right. The Natural Bridge State Resort Park and the Gorge are only a couple of miles away.

This sets the beginning of our tour describing only a few of 5 Star's cabins in these areas.

A. Scenic Heights




Scenic Heights cabins and Majestic Mountain View cabin are located on Glencairn Road about 2 miles from Natural Bridge Road. Cliffs at Hickory Ridge overlooks a beautiful canyon where there is a swing for two on the overlook.

Only a few miles from the Natural Bridge State Park, this is strategically located for those that want immediate access to park restaurant, swimming pool, and other facilities and can still be only a few miles away yet in the comforts of the 5 Star Cabin be isolated in beauty and view. The Zip line is located just down the road from the Park.
Hickory Ridge Chalet is only around 2 miles from all of this and has an incredible view.

The "Majestic Mountain View" is very secluded and only 3 miles from Natural Bridge State Park and overlooks Mill Creek Canyon. This cabin well into the Red River Gorge area boasts 6 person occupancy. The view as one might surmise from the fact that it is overlooking a Canyon is breathtaking.

Labor Day is near...

Good afternoon everyone. It has turned out to be yet another beautiful day here in the Natural Bridge & Red River Gorge. Soon the leaves will start to change and summer will officially come to an end. Come visit and enjoy the "green" and all of the awesome activities in the area while you still can. There's no wrong time to visit the Gorge!!

Labor Day weekend is one of our busiest holidays of the year in Natural Bridge & Red River Gorge.  The area will be exceedingly active. Although it's the last weekend for a couple of area activities (until next year that is), Labor Day marks the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons and is also the first three day weekend after school starts! It's also a major sale weekend. Let's not forget the reason for this national holiday though, the celebration of the American labor movement. Labor Day is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.

As I mentioned, Labor Day weekend is one on our busiest times. People come from all over to visit the area, and to celebrate with their family and friends. It sure is a lovely day here in Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge. Would be a wonderful day for a hike. Some of my favorite place to hike are Sky bridge, Chimney Top Rock and Princess Arch. All are pretty short but are worth it. The views are incredible. Also don't forget about Nada Tunnel. Below you will find a picture of the tunnel. Can you believe that trains use to go thru there???

Today is beautiful! The temperature and blue skies together make for a perfect day. It feels more like Fall today. It's a perfect day to visit The Red and do some hiking. I personally am very excited for fall to arrive. It doesn't get much better than that around here. Campfires, s'mores, hoodies, beautiful scenery... pretty much everything you need to make unforgettable memories with those you love most.

Summer's almost gone...

   

     We were in full swing here at 5 Star Cabin Rentals this past weekend. It has been one of the busiest summers we've seen in awhile at Red River Gorge. The cabins and campgrounds alike have stayed booked up during summer break. We had the pleasure of meeting guests from all over the world, including Germany. That's one of my favorite things about working/living in this area, the wonderful people we meet on a daily basis. The old saying is true, you learn something new everyday!

It's been so busy here in the Red River Gorge the last couple of weekends! July is our second busiest month of the year, and we love it! It's so exciting to meet all of the new people that come down for their first time and also very exciting to see our return customers.

Don't let the rain keep you from doing what you enjoy most! The Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge have something to offer everyone, rain or shine. I'm sure about everyone reading this has visited the Rock Bridge Trail that takes you out to Creation Falls. Can you imagine how beautiful the falls is right now!? Beautiful and busy weekend!!!

It sure is going to be a beautiful weekend here in Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge! A great time for a nice hike or to sit and relax by the pool at natural bridge state park. Speaking of hiking, I had the luxury of take a hike over the weekend. I did the balanced rock trail at Natural Bridge State Park. It is a beautiful hike that takes you up to the Natural Bridge. You get to see a lot of nice sights. It's not that long of a hike either I want to say roughly a mile.

Also don't forget about our Wild Things of KY gift shop, where you can see a live animal display which includes snakes, turtles, spiders and lots more. Then when you get done going thru that browse our gift shop where we have lots to choose from. Including homemade fudge, t-shirts, jewelry, and lots more. Then we have our goats on a roof. Which I must say is a lot of fun, the little goats are so cute and love love love to eat. So stop by and give them a nice little snack that you can purchase inside the gift shop.

Then once your done doing all that your going to need a place to sit back and relax. That's where we come in. Check out the pictures I posted of a little black bear! They were sent to me just this morning from one of our guests in a cabin. They said "it was quite the wake up call!" These guests made my day with these pictures. Such a beautiful animal! I had heard that we'll be seeing a lot more sightings in the next few years! I think that's so exciting!

You can also decide to walk the trail if you don't want to opt for the sky lift ride. Either way, it is a beautiful view that you can see for what seems like miles. This is also a very popular place to watch the sunset & sunrise. Keep that in mind when visiting the area!

The Red River Gorge area is popular for the scenic route drive that takes you through the Nada Tunnel on Route 77 around the clifty wilderness and many popular trails. Pick up a map at our gift shop of the Red River Gorge to help you find your way around. We also sell "Hiking the Red" which is a very informative book on the trails in the Red River Gorge and gives you detailed information on each one.

Happy Friday!

Good evening everyone! We hope you're enjoying this fantastic Friday! It's finally the weekend and we're sure you're as happy about that as we are! There are lots of people out and about enjoying the day! We've had several customers in the store buying firewood, quickwicks (fire starters), candles, t-shirts and a lot of other souvenirs and items they need for camping. If you're in the area, stop in and see us! Beautfiul Day

Good morning! Its gonna be another beautiful day here in Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge. Be a nice day to get out and explore. We still have a few cabins available for this weekend. Some of my personal favorite places to visit in the gorge are sky bridge and princess arch. They aren't very long hikes but they sure are pretty. Then my favorite place to hike in Natural Bridge is the balanced rock trail. Its really neat and you get to see a lot of pretty landscapes. So if you are out and about in the area you should go and check these out. Also if you are in the area stop by and get a coupon book from us. You can save money on the zip line and on food. There is also some coupons in there for our wild things of Kentucky. Who doesn't like homemade fudge. I know i sure do. so stop by the gift shop at wild things and try some.  So stop by and see us. Also dont forget there is a sky lift that will take you up to natural bridge it a nice little ride to the top. So there is alot to do here in Natural Bridge and Red River Gorege.  Remember cabins are going fast for the weekend so don't delay call today.

Good Morning! It's a beautiful day!! Why not come visit us here at the Natural Bridge & Red River Gorge! It's the perfect day to do some hiking and exploring in the Red. Hiking

It is such a nice day here at Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Park. It is a nice day for a hike to the natural bridge or a hike thru the gorge. Over the weekend i was able to take a hike in the gorge. I did the chimeny rock trial and the skybridge trail. Now keep in mind these are both short hikes, Neither being more then a mile long. But they are so beautiful. There is so many things to see. For instance On chimney rock you can look over and see where the buffalo use to roam. Alot of people dont know that the Gorge was home to buffalo. They use to be native to this area. But just taking a drive thru the gorge is a nice little adventure. Another round of storms today...

Good Morning! Yet another rainy day. Don't let that get you down though! There's still plenty of fun things to do in the Red River Gorge & Natural Bridge areas. For instance, our Wild Things! Of Kentucky has quite a few things to keep the kids busy on these dreary days! They offer an indoor wildlife exhibit where you can see local spiders, fish, turtles, and venomous and non venomous snakes. They have one of the coolest gift shops in the area! Plenty for the kids to see. They also offer gem mining on a covered porch and that's fun for everyone! Wild Things also has "Goats on the Roof"! You can purchase an ice cream cone full of food inside the gift shop then send it up to the goats to eat! They are so cute! You're sure to just love them! Be sure to grab some fresh, homemade fudge while you're there too! That's sure to make someones day brighter!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

The weather has been pretty wet the last couple of days. It's the second time this year we've dealt with flooding in the Red River Gorge area. One good thing about it though, I've heard several compliments about how everything is so green right now. It's beautiful. The trees are starting to get newly sprouting foliage also. It's a soggy but pretty time to visit.

I highly recommend taking time of your day to check it out! I'm so glad I found it! For people who have never been to this area, it gives a great sense of what it's like. Kentucky Wildcats!

Hello all! It's the start to a beautiful day! Perfect way to spend a Saturday and an even better start to Spring Break week! Easter Sunday is looking even better! It's nice to see the clear blue skies after the clouds and storms we've had the last day or so.

If you're in the area tomorrow, stop by the Hemlock Lodge at Natural Bridge for the Easter Buffet!They'll have a cheese bar, choice beef carved on the line, chefs choice local favorite, baked Kentucky country ham, golden fried catfish & hush puppies, variety of desserts and much more! UK Wildcats have an exciting game tonight! They'll be continuing their pursuit of perfection and going after 39-0! If you had an opportunity to purchase a commemorative numbered display piece of the floor that the Cats played their Sweet 16 & Elite 8 games on leading up to their historical 38-0 record for under $50.00, what would your interest level be? Cool Facts!

Good afternoon everyone! It has some very neat facts about our beautiful Red River Gorge! You may know some, but I definitely learned a few things!

As you can imagine with the clear blue skies today, Natural Bridge & Red River Gorge is hopping! It's a perfect day to go hiking, rock climbing, zip lining or just relax in a cabin!
