Hiking

It is such a nice day here at Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge State Park. It is a nice day for a hike to the natural bridge or a hike thru the gorge. Over the weekend i was able to take a hike in the gorge. I did the chimeny rock trial and the skybridge trail. Now keep in mind these are both short hikes, Neither being more then a mile long. But they are so beautiful. There is so many things to see. For instance On chimney rock you can look over and see where the buffalo use to roam. Alot of people dont know that the Gorge was home to buffalo. They use to be native to this area. But just taking a drive thru the gorge is a nice little adventure. Another round of storms today...

Good Morning! Yet another rainy day. Don't let that get you down though! There's still plenty of fun things to do in the Red River Gorge & Natural Bridge areas. For instance, our Wild Things! Of Kentucky has quite a few things to keep the kids busy on these dreary days! They offer an indoor wildlife exhibit where you can see local spiders, fish, turtles, and venomous and non venomous snakes. They have one of the coolest gift shops in the area! Plenty for the kids to see. They also offer gem mining on a covered porch and that's fun for everyone! Wild Things also has "Goats on the Roof"! You can purchase an ice cream cone full of food inside the gift shop then send it up to the goats to eat! They are so cute! You're sure to just love them! Be sure to grab some fresh, homemade fudge while you're there too! That's sure to make someones day brighter!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

The weather has been pretty wet the last couple of days. It's the second time this year we've dealt with flooding in the Red River Gorge area. One good thing about it though, I've heard several compliments about how everything is so green right now. It's beautiful. The trees are starting to get newly sprouting foliage also. It's a soggy but pretty time to visit.

On our Facebook page, we're at 965 "likes". Once we reach 1,000 likes, we are giving away a free nights stay in the gorgeous Fox's Den Chalet. If you haven't already, be sure to like our page and help get the word out for your chance to win!

We just received some new shipments in at 5 Star & Wild Things! of Kentucky for new merchandise. Come check our stores out to find the perfect gift/souvenir! Wild Things has some really cool stuff to do on these rainy days! They also just got some fresh, homemade fudge in. That's always a sure way to brighten someones day.

What a beautiful day!

Good Afternoon! What are your plans today? Why not make a trip to the beautiful Red River Gorge!? It's the perfect day for hiking & rock climbing. Tomorrow is going to be even more awesome! This article that I found explains the Red River Gorge & Natural Bridge area in a wonderful way. It's certainly a nice read and describes the Gorge beautifully. I highly recommend taking time of your day to check it out! I'm so glad I found it! For people who have never been to this area, it gives a great sense of what it's like. I'm definitely proud to call this place home.

Kentucky Wildcats!

Hello all! It's the start to a beautiful day! Perfect way to spend a Saturday and an even better start to Spring Break week! Easter Sunday is looking even better! It's nice to see the clear blue skies after the clouds and storms we've had the last day or so.

If you're in the area tomorrow, stop by the Hemlock Lodge at Natural Bridge for the Easter Buffet!They'll have a cheese bar, choice beef carved on the line, chefs choice local favorite, baked Kentucky country ham, golden fried catfish & hush puppies, variety of desserts and much more! Sounds like a perfect Easter meal to me! They're serving from Noon until 8:00 PM tomorrow!

UK Wildcats have an exciting game tonight! They'll be continuing their pursuit of perfection and going after 39-0! If you had an opportunity to purchase a commemorative numbered display piece of the floor that the Cats played their Sweet 16 & Elite 8 games on leading up to their historical 38-0 record for under $50.00, what would your interest level be? I don’t suppose that the floor the Final Four will be played on will be for sale because of its historical significance and if it was, it would be very expensive in our opinion.
