Good afternoon everyone! It has some very neat facts about our beautiful Red River Gorge! You may know some, but I definitely learned a few things!

As you can imagine with the clear blue skies today, Natural Bridge & Red River Gorge is hopping! It's a perfect day to go hiking, rock climbing, zip lining or just relax in a cabin! It's a little chilly out though, so bring a sweater and come on down! 5 Star Cabin Rental is open until 8:00 PM if you'd like to grab a coupon book for some area savings or would like a cabin for the evening!

Gem mining is officially open for the season and the our "Goats on the Roof" are back at our very own "Wild Things of KY!". They're so adorable! If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and send an ice cream cone of food up to them! They love it! This is also the opening weekend for the Sky Lift! Come enjoy a gorgeous ride up to the Natural Bridge!

Red River Gorge 2015 Spring Newsletter

What a day we had! Couldn't have asked for more perfect weather on this Spring day at the Red River Gorge & Natural Bridge. A lot of hikers and rock climbers out today. The trails are still pretty muddy from all the rain we got but that didn't stop people from going out and enjoying this beautiful day. Speaking of trails, check out the Red River Gorge 2015 Spring Newsletter below for some updates on the Indian Creek project that will affect a few areas in the East Fork of Indian Creek and what to do if you run into abandoned or injured wildlife while out hiking. It also lists some important dates of different events that will take place at the Gladie Center this year.

Our cabins booked up this weekend! People was ready to get out of the house for awhile after the weather we've had and I don't blame them! Our office is still open though if you're in the area and want to come look around for some unique gifts to take home with you!

Perfect time to visit!

It's been a rough start to 2015 with the crippling amount of snow we received and now all of this rain. A good thing about the rain though, I imagine all of the waterfalls in Red River Gorge are absolutely breath taking right now! With really mild temps today, it would be a perfect day to come visit the area and take a nice hike to Creation Falls & Kaner Falls! Tomorrow is expected to be a beautiful day, so come on down and stay in one of our cabins for a night and enjoy some hiking trails before heading back home tomorrow! What a perfect end to your weekend?!

Coming up on Saturday April, 4th there will be an Easter Egg Hunt at Torrent Falls Climbing Adventure! It will be fun for families, individuals, and kids of all ages! Participants will look for Easter Eggs while climbing the Via Ferrata climbing course and hiking along the trails. Hunt starts at 11:00 AM and runs until 3:00 PM! If you do make it down to the area, stop by and see us! Grab a free coupon book of the area before venturing out today and save some $$$ at local shops and restaurants! Our Wild Things of Kentucky is part of it also if you'd like to get up close and personal with Kentucky's very own snakes, spiders and much more! It's a great learning experience as well as something fun for everyone to do on this rainy day. Wild Things is open until 7:00 PM this evening!

Lots of exciting updates!

We're down to only 18 days left until the first day of Spring! The Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge area is really starting to pick back up! With that being said, some of our seasonal businesses are opening up for season soon and we are so excited! The awesome Miguel's Pizza opened back up for season on February 27th, and the cool Red River Rockhouse will be opening up for season this week on March, 5th! Come on down and enjoy some of Red River Rockhouse's delicious burgers or some of Miguel's sundry pizza toppings! The Sky lift at the Natural Bridge will be opening up on March 28th! Talk about a beautiful sight!

April will be an exciting month for the Wild Things of Kentucky! Our gem & gold mines opens up for season and our "Goats on the Roof" will return! Fill up an ice cream cone full of goat food and send it up to them, they love it! Wild Things of Kentucky has a new contemporary outhouse open to the public also coming the first of April! Whether you have "to go" or not, be sure to stop by and visit Ernie the bathroom attendant. This outhouse is the first of its kind in Kentucky and probably the whole US! The nature center is open everyday, so stop by and see some creepy crawlers or just take a look at the gift shop that has some of the most unique merchandise in the area.

It's also time again for the Natural Bridge State Resort Park's monthly First Friday Seafood Buffet! It will be served this Friday March 6th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM! If visiting, you can enjoy crab legs, fried shrimp, clam strips, fried catfish, baked Alaska and much more! Yummy!

For something exciting to do in the Red River Gorge, on March 21st at the Gladie Visitor Center, they'll be having "Building for Bluebirds". This free event is fun for all ages and helps provide nesting areas for bluebirds. Build your box and take it home to help bluebirds in your area!

All of these awesome things are opening up just in time for spring break!
