Good Morning!

Good soggy morning everyone! It was nice to get some rain though, it makes the foliage much greener and the gardens grow. Can't complain about that.

Speaking of foliage, the trees are back in full bloom. Check out the pictures to see for yourself. We went fishing on the Red River yesterday evening at Indian Creek and it was beautiful. A couple of pictures were taken at Mill Creek Lake a month or so ago, and the picture of the sky lift were taken yesterday too!
There is a lot of stuff to do in Red River Gorge area, mostly outdoors. Of course, there is fishing at two awesome locations, Red River & Mill Creek Lake. You can go canoeing/kayaking at either location also. Red River Gorge offers endless hiking and rock climbing. There is a place called Torrent Falls that offers guided rock climbing if you're new to it but would like to give it a try. There are two exciting zip lines, and a new ropes aerial course. If you're tired of being on your feet, or just want to see something gorgeous, you can take a 34 mile scenic drive around the Red River Gorge. You will see things like the Nada Tunnel, large rock formations, maybe some wildlife, and a lot of other sights. And last but certainly not least, there is the sky lift up to the Natural Bridge. There are plenty of souvenir shops in the area, as well as three restaurants to stop and grab a bite to eat after a long day of adventuring.

As you can see, there is something to do for everyone here in Red River Gorge & Natural Bridge. Make plans to come see us and see where your adventure takes you. Of course, we'll provide a place to stay. We'll welcome you home whenever you're ready to visit!

That's one of the many awesome activities to enjoy while visiting the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge areas. The weather has been phenomenal and it's the most perfect time to visit. It isn't too hot or too cold, and everything is just starting to open back up.

Happy Leap Day!

Happy Leap Year Day! It's a tradition (in Ireland and Britain anyway) that on Leap Year Day, the woman may propose marriage by only in a Leap Year! If a marriage proposal was refused by the man, compensation was deemed to be a pair of leather gloves, a single rose, $1, and a kiss. In Greece, it is considered unlucky to marry in a Leap Year and some would actually avoid marriage in that year. The owners of 5 Star, Debbie & Lloyd Little, were actually married this day, 40 years ago! Debbie says it was a premeditated plan by her smart husband to only have to buy her an anniversary gift every 4 years (haha). She says that's okay though, because she married the man of her dreams. Happy Anniversary Debbie & Lloyd!

It means something different to everyone. I was reading about different traditions and thought I'd share some with you!

It is a bit chilly today in the Red River Gorge Geological Area. Winter has finally found us! We're supposed to have some absolutely frigid temperatures in the next few days! Despite the temperatures, there is still a lot to see at Natural Bridge and the Red River Gorge this time of year. You can see the Red River Gorge without even leaving the comfort of your warm car! There is a forty-five to sixty minute driving loop you can use to see all the wonderful sights of the Gorge! You can drive through Nada Tunnel, a man-made tunnel that a train used to go through!

Last minute cancellation!

Good afternoon! We've had a last minute cancellation for our "Deer Track Falls Country Home" for this upcoming weekend (October 23-25). Deer Track Falls can hold up to six guests, it is situated on 5 acres of land, and is only a few minutes drive from the Natural Bridge State Park & Red River Gorge. Check out this link for more information! Deer Track Falls is a brick home that is tastefully designed like a cabin. It offers all the same amenities as a cabin such as a hot tub on the deck, fireplace, outdoor fire pit, etc. Right now is the perfect time to visit the area if you want to see something spectacular!  The foliage is filled with yellows, oranges, and reds and the weather has been perfect. Happy Sunday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! We sure did. Other than amazing weather, the fall foliage is almost at its "peak" for October. It's a beautiful sight. We also have a new cabin on our rental program as of this past weekend called Mountain Rose Chalet. Its name suits it perfectly! Check out the pictures of the cabin below. Mountain Rose offers a private queen bedroom downstairs and a queen bed in the loft for a max occupancy of 4. It has 1 full bathroom downstairs and a half bath upstairs, TV / satellite, washer/dryer, charcoal grill, and a full size pool table. Mountain Rose is located on Cabin Country Development which is directly behind our office and Shell gas station. That means you're only a couple of miles from Red River Gorge or Natural Bridge. This is the beginning of our journey around the area with a look at some of the unique features of the Gorge and the many cabins located so close to most all of them. If you looked through our live cam you will see a sign that says Natural Bridge straight ahead and the Red River Gorge in the direction to the right. The Natural Bridge State Resort Park and the Gorge are only a couple of miles away.

This sets the beginning of our tour describing only a few of 5 Star's cabins in these areas.

Scenic Heights cabins and Majestic Mountain View cabin are located on Glencairn Road about 2 miles from Natural Bridge Road. Cliffs at Hickory Ridge overlooks a beautiful canyon where there is a swing for two on the overlook.

Only a few miles from the Natural Bridge State Park, this is strategically located for those that want immediate access to park restaurant, swimming pool, and other facilities and can still be only a few miles away yet in the comforts of the 5 Star Cabin be isolated in beauty and view. The Zip line is located just down the road from the Park.

Labor Day is near...

Good afternoon everyone. It has turned out to be yet another beautiful day here in the Natural Bridge & Red River Gorge. Soon the leaves will start to change and summer will officially come to an end. Come visit and enjoy the "green" and all of the awesome activities in the area while you still can. Labor Day weekend is one of our busiest holidays of the year in Natural Bridge & Red River Gorge.  The area will be exceedingly active. Although it's the last weekend for a couple of area activities (until next year that is), Labor Day marks the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons and is also the first three day weekend after school starts! It's also a major sale weekend. Let's not forget the reason for this national holiday though, the celebration of the American labor movement. Labor Day is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.

As I mentioned, Labor Day weekend is one on our busiest times. People come from all over to visit the area, and to celebrate with their family and friends. It sure is a lovely day here in Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge. Would be a wonderful day for a hike. Some of my favorite place to hike are Sky bridge, Chimney Top Rock and Princess Arch. All are pretty short but are worth it. The views are incredible. Also don't forget about Nada Tunnel. Below you will find a picture of the tunnel. Can you believe that trains use to go thru there???

Today is beautiful! The temperature and blue skies together make for a perfect day. It feels more like Fall today. It's a perfect day to visit The Red and do some hiking. I personally am very excited for fall to arrive. It doesn't get much better than that around here. Campfires, s'mores, hoodies, beautiful scenery... pretty much everything you need to make unforgettable memories with those you love most.

Summer's almost gone...

   

     We were in full swing here at 5 Star Cabin Rentals this past weekend. It has been one of the busiest summers we've seen in awhile at Red River Gorge. The cabins and campgrounds alike have stayed booked up during summer break. We had the pleasure of meeting guests from all over the world, including Germany. That's one of my favorite things about working/living in this area, the wonderful people we meet on a daily basis. The old saying is true, you learn something new everyday!

Summer Time!

It's been so busy here in the Red River Gorge the last couple of weekends! July is our second busiest month of the year, and we love it! It's so exciting to meet all of the new people that come down for their first time and also very exciting to see our return customers.

Creation Falls / Red River Gorge, KY

Don't let the rain keep you from doing what you enjoy most! The Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge have something to offer everyone, rain or shine. I'm sure about everyone reading this has visited the Rock Bridge Trail that takes you out to Creation Falls. Can you imagine how beautiful the falls is right now!? If a trip to The Red is not in your plans, take a day to drive down and experience all that the area has to offer. Bring a poncho though, it's a little bit wet right now!
